Terms of Service
Last updated: February 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Caption Obvious ("we", "us", "our"), an AI-powered video captioning platform operated at caption-obvious.com. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Caption Obvious. By using the service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Account and authentication
You sign in using your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and for all activity that occurs under your Caption Obvious account. You agree to notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorized use.
The service
Caption Obvious provides AI-powered video captioning. You upload videos, and we generate captions using third-party transcription providers (including AssemblyAI, Deepgram, and Gladia). Results may be refined using OpenAI. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice.
Credits and payments
The service operates on a credit-based system. 1 credit equals 1 second of video processing. Free credits may be provided on signup. Additional credits can be purchased through Stripe. All credit purchases are final and non-refundable. Credits do not expire and cannot be transferred to other accounts.
Your content
You retain all ownership rights to the videos you upload and the captions generated from them. By uploading a video, you grant us a limited, temporary license to process and store the video solely for the purpose of generating captions. We do not claim any ownership of your content and do not use it for AI model training.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Upload content that you do not have the right to distribute
- Use the service to infringe on intellectual property rights of others
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with the service's infrastructure
- Use automated means to access the service beyond its intended interface
- Resell or redistribute the service without our written consent
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Third-party services
Caption Obvious relies on third-party providers to deliver the service, including Google (authentication), Stripe (payments), third-party AI providers (transcription and caption refinement), and Amazon Web Services (storage and processing), among others. Your use of Caption Obvious is also subject to the terms and policies of these providers.
Limitation of liability
Caption Obvious is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that captions will be accurate, complete, or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Caption Obvious shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service at our discretion, including for violation of these Terms. You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Any unused credits will be forfeited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
